By chance, this issue is appearing at a most momentous time in the history of Smart Home developments.
Google Makes Its Nest a Walled Garden
Since Apple Home kit started in September 2014, Apple has always limited the number of partners it worked with, screening and qualifying them as per Apple’s end to end approach for its solutions. When Samsung unveiled its Smart Home Master plan in January 2015, it left the door open for others to integrate with it. Google Home started in November 2016 and took this same open-door approach.
Now Google will be adopting a much more Apple-like view. The implications of this are the key topic in this particular issue of the Newsletter. Since they will impact a large number of Smart Home owners in some cases in a negative way, we encourage you to subscribe and find out just what is happening. You may well need to review what you are or will be doing with your Smarter Home.
